Iowa City Book Festival to be held Oct. 14-20

The 2024 Iowa City Book Festival will be held Oct. 14-20, with author readings, a book fair, panel discussions, and other presentations filling the schedule.

The festival is proud to add the Iowa City Public Library Friends Foundation’s event with Dave Eggers to the lineup. Eggers will be in conversation with Andre Perry at the Englert Theatre on Oct. 16. Other events will be held in the days leading up to the weekend of Oct. 19-20, when the majority of festival events will take place.

The book festival is also partnering again with FilmScene’s Refocus Film Festival. Refocus, which celebrates work adapted into film, will be held Oct. 17-20. The two festivals are working on collaborative programming that will make Iowa City the place to be for fans of storytelling in all its forms.

Other confirmed authors include Pulitzer Prize-winning poet and former Iowa Writers’ Workshop instructor Forrest Gander, pre-eminent writer on the act of writing Natalie Goldberg, Mexican debut novelist and Iowa Writers’ Workshop graduate Nicolás Medina Mora, and Oregon-based novelist and songwriter Willy Vlautin. Information about these authors, as well as further details about the festival schedule as they are confirmed, can be found at www.iowacitybookfestival.org.
