World Book Night – 20 Book Giver slots available

World Book Night is an annual celebration dedicated to spreading the love of reading, person to person.  Each year on April 23, tens of thousands of people go out into their communities and give half a million free World Book Night paperbacks to light and non-readers.  World Book Night is about giving books and encouraging reading in those who don’t regularly do so. But it is also about more than that: It’s about people, communities and connections, about reaching out to others and touching lives in the simplest of ways—through the sharing of stories.

The City of Literature will be distributing World Book Night Books to volunteer book givers on April 15, 5 – 8 p.m. at the Iowa City Public Library.  These are givers who have previously been notified by World Book Night that they have been selected to distribute books to light or non-readers on April 23rd.  In addition, the City of Literature has secured  20 additional book giving slots.  If you are interested in becoming a book giver, please sign up below. Those selected for those slots will be notified soon.

An independent panel of booksellers and librarians have selected a list of books to give away.  Click here to view a list of the books.  Note: The City of Literature cannot guarantee book selection for these 20 givers. Please indicate your choice below, but know that you might receive another book to distribute depending on availability. *Update – volunteer sign-up has ended.
