Community Book Talk event set for Oct. 17

The City of Literature will hold its second Community Book Talk event of the year this Wednesday, Oct. 17, in Coralville.

The event, which features community and business leaders discussing favorite books, will be held from noon-1p.m. Oct. 17 at the Coralville Public Library.

Presenters and their selections are:

Rex Brandstatter, ReMax: Marybeth Slonneger – Small But Ours

Megan Flanagan, Coralville Center for Performing Arts: Virginia Woolf – A Room of One’s Own

Bill Hoeft, Coralville City Councilor: Paul Etre – Ponseti and Paul.

Keith Jones, Hills Bank: Bill O’Reilly and Martin Dugard – Killing Lincoln

Margaret McCaffrey, wife of University of Iowa Men’s Basketball Coach Fran McCaffrey: Douglas Wood – Old Turtle, Sandra Boynton – Moo Baa La La La, Margaret Wise Brown – Big Red Barn, Gyo Fujikawa – Babies (Fujikawa) and Chih-Yuan Chen – Guji Guji

Christine Scheetz, United Way of Johnson County: Wes Moore – The Other Wes Moore 

Ryan West, West Music: P.D. Eastman – Go Dog Go

The event is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring a brown bag lunch. The City of Literature will provide drinks and dessert.  The event is sponsored by Willis and Willis/Security Abstract Company.
